The Old Bridge Hotel Reopens: A £350k Revamp Celebrating Last of the Summer Wine (2026)

The beloved Old Bridge Hotel, a historic landmark in Holmfirth, has unveiled its stunning transformation, costing a whopping £350k! But this isn't just any renovation; it's a tribute to the town's iconic characters, Compo and Nora, from the beloved TV show 'Last of the Summer Wine'.

A Grand Reopening:
The hotel, located in the heart of Holmfirth, has given its 21 bedrooms, bar, restaurant, conservatory, and outdoor seating area a complete makeover. And the view? It's breathtaking, overlooking the picturesque River Holme.

Managed by the prestigious Coaching Inn Group, recently crowned Hotel Group of the Year, the hotel's reopening was a community affair. On February 6, the Mayor of Kirklees, Liz Smaje, joined hotel staff and locals for a celebration filled with live music and a new food menu featuring sharing boards crafted by Head Chef Daniel Garlick.

A Tribute to Local Legends:
But here's where it gets interesting. The hotel pays homage to Holmfirth's famous residents, Compo Simmonite and Nora Batty, with a unique twist. Guests can now enjoy Compo's Lager, Compo's Session IPA, and even a cocktail named Bloomin' Nora, adding a touch of local flavor to the experience.

Jordan Burrows, the hotel's general manager, expressed his enthusiasm: 'We're thrilled to invite everyone to our refreshed hotel. This renovation ensures we remain a vibrant community hub and a destination for visitors.'

A Full-Circle Moment:
The Old Bridge Hotel holds a special place in the group's history, being their first acquisition. Adam Charity, the managing director, shared his joy: 'As we reopen its doors, we're delighted to share this full-circle moment with our guests. It's a significant time as we expand our premium inns and pubs across the country.'

With the group's 30th anniversary approaching, this hotel's impact on the local community is a testament to its success. But will this unique tribute to local legends attract visitors, or is it a gimmick? What do you think? Share your thoughts on this blend of history, hospitality, and pop culture!
